Looking for a great place to spend your family vacation?

This summer my sister moved to Mountainside, NJ so we decided to visit her family and get to know the place.

We live in Fort Lauderdale so the idea to take the kids to a place with a lot scenery and stunning views was very exciting. Added bonus, Mountainside is pretty close to Manhattan so we could also enjoy some days in NYC!

We had a great time, we enjoyed of the beautiful change of pace and took advantage of visiting a few top attractions the city has to offer.

Here some of the places we visited!

Liberty Science Center, NJ: This is an awesome museum! full of activities that will keep your children (and yourself) happy and busy for a long time. From the top of the building you can enjoy a stunning view of NYC! If you are planning on visiting the museum try to schedule at least a half day visit since there are a lot of things to see.

New York Transit Museum: This underground Museum is perfect for train lovers! If your children are into transportation vehicles, they will definitely enjoy this place a lot. You can learn about transit history and even operate your own train in a simulator! It isn’t a big museum so you really don’t need a whole day to visit, which was fine since it was pretty hot day.

Statue of Liberty: this was my favorite place to visit during our vacation! It is the perfect plan for adults and kids. The views, the atmosphere, the stateliness of the Statue is magical! How can you skip such an icon as the Statue of Liberty if you are in NY?

We picked up the ferry in NJ which was a good decision since the other ferry coming NY was packed. Visiting the immigration museum and enjoying the delicious fresh squeezed lemonade next to the statue will complete a perfect day!

The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum: This museum is a must for airplanes lovers! you can enjoy of a variety of a variety of aircrafts, a space shuttle and a submarine and all of this on a aircraft carrier! Toddler friendly? not so much, my kids are 5 and 7 years old and they had a blast… anyway it is worth to give it a try! Click here to watch more amazing pictures!

Fun and Shop Options: there are some stores that are a must even if you are not going to buy anything. M&M store and Disney store in Times Squares are super colorful and so much fun to visit! The Lego Store and The American Girls Store are also an awesome place to take the kids.
