Useful guide to host the perfect dinner

Celebrating is part of life. Personally I love to host parties, to me is an opportunity to let all my inspiration flow… I know that many of you out there are probably thinking you don’t have time for fancy detailed events, but I have good news for you! planning the perfect event is not mission impossible!

As everything, you just need to know what do you want to do and how much are you willing to spend to impress your guests. Not the creative type? Don’t worry, I am here to help you.

Today, I will share some of the decors that I have put together for my parties (children’s parties coming soon), as well as some useful tips to keep the budget in control.

  • Centerpieces: I have a wide variety of vases at home, but the storage can become a problem if you don’t have the space. My recommendation is to pick 3 or 4 nice pieces that you can use all the time. Combine tall vases with short ones to give you more decor options.
    • TIP1: check the dollar store for vases, I bought the small fish bowls there.
Flowers: you can use flowers, sticks or any green accent you have at home.
    • TIP2: if you have a garden you can always take some decor from your backyard and save money. (See the vintage dude decor).
  • Lighting: it is amazing what little details can do to your decor. Using waterproof lights inside your vases will make your centerpieces an eye catcher.
    • TIP: you can find several colors and models on for as low as $8.99 (12-pack).
  • Tablecloths: my advice is to get a fabric tablecloth for each table at home, try to pick a neutral color that you can use every time. What is going to make each celebration different are the table runners and centerpieces!
    • TIP: for cheap and good quality tablecloths, table runners and more party accessories check out (as low as $5.50 per tablecloth and $1.49 per table runner). Didn’t order in time? Another option for table runners and overlays is to buy the fabric and cut it yourself! (See zebra table runner and casino night party).
  • Dessert/Food Table: you can use almost any accessory you already have at home to decorate your table. Try to play with object of different sizes and shapes. Elevating some of the dishes will help you create more impact!
    • TIP: Getting a paper backdrop will make from your cake/food table the perfect photo spot. Paper backdrops can be found on for as low as $8. (See vintage wood backdrop on Matteo baby shower picture.)

I hope this can give you some inspiration for your next event! Remember the key is planning ahead (if you can) and to think out of the box! Almost everything you have at home can be use as decor…
